Keyword Research
The on-page SEO process begins with keyword research. We use ten business terms that you provide as a starting
point to establish the best possible key phrases for optimizing your website.
Unique Metatags
Metatags include a title tag, description tag, and keyword tag for each page. Just as no two pages on your site can
have exactly the same content, the same holds true for metatags. We, therefore, create unique, or in other words
different metatags for each page.
Title Tags
Your title tags are the most important consideration of on-page optimization. They appear in the blue strip at the top of your browser
and are visible to both search engines and visitors alike. Your most important key phrase (as determined by keyword
research) should appear first, or in other words, at the far left of your title tags, followed by a call to action for the page, for example, Learn about or Read about a variation of your primary key phrase. Your company name, if used at all in the title tags should be positioned on the far right.
Description Tags
Your description, which is exactly what it sounds like, a 150 to 250 character sentence or partial sentence that
describes what the page is about, is the next most important metagag.
Keyword Tags
The final metatag, called the keyword tag, should include up to six key phrases that can be found in your content
that you want the page to rank for. It should be noted, however, that the content of each web page should be
focused on one primary subject, so will actually be optimized for one primary key phrase.
Content Editing
Search engine rankings are partially based on the use of your primary key phrases within your page text, so we
rewrite your home page when necessary, to include those phrases subject to your approval.
Heading Tags
Bold headings, called H1, H2, and H3 tags, appear on a web page directly above paragraphs to summarize or preview what the paragraph is about. People hardly ever read every word of a web page. So when your pages have heading tags, visitors are able to quickly scan your pages and easily tell what they are about, so heading tags are important to both search engines and visitors.
Internal Anchor Text Links
These are links based on a single key phrase that link directly to another page on your site that has been written
about that specific keyword or phrase.
Alt Tags
An alt tag is the text you see when you mouse-over a photo or graphic on a website. Alt tags are useful to search
engines when they include a key phrase that actually describes the image in words.
Google Analytics
We create and email monthly Google Analytics reports that tell you which search engine and even which search term
your visitors used to find your site.
Html Sitemap
We create two sitemaps and add them to your website. The first, called an html sitemap, is a regular web page on
your site that helps both visitors and search engines navigate their way through it.
XML Sitemap
The second, called an xml sitemap, is simply a computer file that enables search engines to easily crawl their way
through your site when uploaded to your web server and submitted to Google, Yahoo, and Bing.
